Careers Event
(April 2026)
Thanks to funding from the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit, CLP held a careers event to inspire young Roma people to think about their future options. The event featured inspirational members of the Roma community, who shared powerful life stories, speaking honestly about the challenges they have faced and how they overcame barriers to succeed.
Young people had the opportunity to listen, ask questions, and reflect on their own aspirations. Representatives from the police and Pathways to Work services also attended, providing further guidance and support as attendees explored possible pathways for their futures. Here are Laura and Olga engaging a rapt audience!

National Lottery funding
We are delighted to announce that CLP has been awarded a 3 year grant from The National Lottery. This funding will support our work with adults and will support the local community to thrive. We would like to thank the players of The National Lottery.
International Roma Day
On 8th April 2026 CLP and the Eastwood Roma community celebrated International Roma Day, with games, food, music and dance. The sun shone and a great time was had by everyone.

Youth Club
Our youth club at CLP is designed specifically for children and young people to socialize, have fun, learn new skills, and stay safe.
The sessions offer a variety of activities including different sports, art and crafts, games, cooking, days out and various partnership work that allows young people to take part in new opportunities.
The activities are designed to have a positive impact on young people’s social, emotional and physical wellbeing.
Pantry
Our Pantry is a social supermarket designed to support families facing financial hardship. The aim is to help people to manage challenging periods or crises and provide stability when it is needed most.
The Pantry is run by CLP staff and supported by dedicated volunteers. Clients come to us with trust and hope for better times ahead. In addition to financial support, we also provide a space for social connection. Many of our clients come from diverse ethnic backgrounds and often face language barriers. We therefore strive to create a safe, confidential and welcoming environment where everyone feels accepted and supported.

English Classes
Our friendly English classes are open to everyone, including asylum seekers. We encourage people to come and enjoy learning in an environment full of friendly conversations, funny games and interesting worksheets. Even if people cannot speak English or are not literate in their home language they still come to socialize and gain confidence.
Progression to classes run by the college, but still within our Centre, are also available when people are confident enough to transition to something a little more formal.
Christmas Hampers
Thanks to funding from Voluntary Action Rotherham, we were able to assemble and distribute Christmas hampers to families in our local community.
The hampers included a range of essential groceries alongside Christmas dinner favourites such as fresh vegetables and chicken, all sourced from local providers. This support helped families enjoy a festive meal while strengthening local supply networks and community connections during a challenging time of year.

Retirement Celebration
We recently celebrated the retirement of longstanding chair of trustees Barry Gow. Barry worked in the Eastwood and Clifton areas for the last fifty years in roles in the education sector. His commitment, passion and experience will be sorely missed by CLP but we wish him every happiness in his well deserved retirement.
